Balinese Cooking Class

Cooking Experience:

 

Overview:

 

This Balinese cuisine cooking class is in Ubud, Indonesia. In a nutshell- we learned to prepare authentic dishes from a certified cook in a traditional open kitchen. We worked on preparing and cooking dishes hands on in a 6-hour session. The class is limited to a maximum of 12 people for a small-group learning experience. The class includes round-trip transport from Ubud hotels. The cost in USD was $25 at the time and she allowed payment in USD.

What to Expect:

9:30 AM  With morning session Visit Payangan Morning traditional Market accompanied by the chef.  They purchased some fresh ingredients and spices for our cooking class and than visited their Balinese compound house and met the family members

11:00 AM: We met the chef and got an introduction to the ingredients and equipment that we were going to use for the cooking class

11:30 AM: We started the preparation under our chefs supervision.

1:00 PM: We finished up with the last preparations and had a seat at the table to enjoy the product of our labor. Afterwards, we received a certificate from the Chef and copies of all the food recipes that we made for the day.



1. Our Menu (same menu for all participants) Regular Morning, Afternoon, Vegetarians: Items will be substituted 

JUKUT URAB / LAWAR SALAD (V)- organic Balinese red bean, grated coconut and fried sambal

CALON BE SIAP - Balinese spiced meat ball with cayote and clear chicken soup (alternative for Vegetarians: bean curd/ Tempe)

SATE AYAM - Grille minced chicken in Balinese spice, wrapped around a lemon grass stick and chicken skewer with peanut sauce (special for VAGITARIAN : bean curd/ Tempe)

TAHU MESANTEN (V) - Tofu with organic vegetable in Balinese coconut sauce

Dadar Kdongding (V) - Pandanus leaf scented pancake with coconut and palm sugar


Things to know B4 you go:
 

  • A maximum of 12 people per booking ( If you have more than 12 PPL Contact direct to make arrangements)

  • Minimum age is 12 years

  • $25 USD (Nov 2017)

  • Outlets so you can charge your phone (bring charger/convertor) 

  • If you are vegetarian she has alternative dishes (let her know in advance/at booking)

  • Please advise any specific dietary requirements at time of booking
    If you may stay outside of Ubud and Payangan there will be extra charge for the return transfer
    Sanur area hotels; IDR 350k (USD $ 30) Per booking
    Kuta, Seminyak, Legian, Nusa Dua, Jimbaran area hotels:  IDR 500k (USD $40)  Per booking


Additionally-
Their car only can fit up to 6 passenger, so if  you have more than 6 ppl- they will charge extra for each person over the 6 ($15 USD per person.)
